A new project and collaborative altar/installation honoring the legacy and spirit of Frida Kahlo. Created by Sally Ann Rodriguez, Rachel Palacios and myself. She debuted at the Oakland Museum's Day of the Dead Community Day Celebration, October 21, 2007.  (thank you Oakland for such a warm and loving reception). She will make her second appearace at the De Young Museum on November 2nd, 6pm at the "Otra Vez, A Traves" Dia De Los Muertos Exhibition, in the Kimball Gallery, curated by Mia Gonzalez of Encantada Gallery, San Francisco.

Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy, Volume 19.

"Las Viejitas" a painting dedicated to my father was featured in the Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy Journal, Volume 19. "For the first time in the journal’s twenty-one-year history, the HJHP dives into the art world and features the paintings of three Latina/o artists living in the US. "

My painting is featured along with two other artists Mario Gee Lopez, and Graciela Horne Nardi. "Commentaries in this volume explore a number of current policy issues, such as the impacts of a recent anti-affirmative action referendum in Illinois. Khaled Beydoun of the ACLU of Michigan, Ernesto Nieto Founder and President of the National Hispanic Institute, and Center for the New Economy’s Miguel A. Soto-Class and Deepak Lamba-Nieves join us in this volume. "

"Calle Olvera"was painted for the Olvera Street Merchants Association to capture the history, festivals and families of Calle Olvera to celebrate their 75th Anniversary. The painting was used as the cover illustration for the Children's Curriculum book.
